10+2 - Importer Security FilingJane L. Taeger On January 3, 2008, U.S. Customs and Border
Protection issued the long-awaited Notice of Proposed Rulemaking for Importer
Security Filing and Additional Carrier Requirements. Additional information,
commonly referred to as "10+2" for 10 data elements to be supplied
by the importer plus 2 data elements to be provided by the carrier, is
to be provided for cargo destined for the United States prior to loading
on vessels at foreign ports. The presentation will detail this new security
initiative and the challenges it presents to the importer. Jane Taeger brings over twenty years of Customs brokerage
experience to Samuel Shapiro & Company, Inc. As the Director of Compliance,
Jane is responsible for Shapiro’s import and export regulatory compliance
and manages the company’s professional consulting services division.
A licensed broker since 1987, Jane began her career with F.W. Myers, and
also held positions at BDP International and Kuehne & Nagel. Jane
presents multiple seminars every year on a variety of trade topics affecting
importers and exporters, and has been a featured speaker for industry
groups. She serves on the Harmonized Tariff System advisory committee
for the American Association of Exporters and Importers. Jane graduated
Cum Laude from Duke University with a B.A. in Mathematics. She is a native
of Baltimore where she resides with her husband and two teenage daughters. |
